Welcome to Harwinton, Connecticut

The Town of Harwinton, located in Litchfield County, was incorporated in 1737 from land controlled by the towns of Hartford and Windsor. The name is a combination of those towns, HARtford and WINdsor TOwN. Harwinton, Connecticut is the only town with that name.


Town Profile

Located in Litchfield County, Harwinton has an area of 31.1 square miles and a population of approximately 5,300. There are 2 voting districts. Principal industries are agriculture, retail services, landscaping, construction and tool and die manufacturing.

Town Offices and Library are closed on all Legal Holidays.

Primary Audit Information

An audit of Harwinton’s August 10 Primary will be conducted on August 31, beginning at 8:30 AM, in the Town Hall Assembly Room. Both the Republican and Democratic Primaries will be included in this audit. The purpose of an audit is to check the accuracy of the voting system. Towns are selected to participate by random draw conducted by the Secretary of State.

Town Clerk to conduct primary audit

The Harwinton Town Clerk will conduct a random selection of the offices on the Democratic and Republican primary ballot that will be audited. The selection will be held on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 @ 11:30 AM in the Registrar’s office. The audit will take place at 8:30AM on August 31, 2010 in the Assembly Room of Harwinton Town Hall.
