Recreation Registration Form

PARENT & TOT PLAY GROUP
This is a great opportunity for parents to socialize while their children are playing and having fun with other children. There is no fee for this weekly drop-in program, but a registration form is required and may be completed on site. Participants will coordinate activities. The group will meet outside at the Ryan Playground at the Conservation/Recreation Area in fair weather and inside at Community Hall in bad weather. Please call 860-485-0626 in advance if you plan to attend.

TUMBLE TIME with MISS SHERRY
This movement exploration class is for children assisted by an adult with Miss Sherry’s direction. It’s a great opportunity for tots to have fun, develop new skills and share quality time with mom, dad, or a special adult.

KIDS KARATE
Join instructors from Family Martial Arts for classes in Tae Kwon Do. Both new and experienced students will improve focus, self-esteem, and discipline through positive reinforcement. Program will continue through the school year.

HALLOWEEN CANDY CONTEST
Guess the number of candies in the jar. Three pizza gift certificates will be awarded in each school. Candy jars and entry blanks are located in the main offices at Mills H.S., Har-Bur Middle School & Consolidated School.

HIP HOP, JAZZ & GYMNASTICS
Let’s get moving! This class includes the fundamentals of floor composition, strengthening & flexibility exercises , hip hop, and jazz dance with Sherry S. Grech. For more information call Sherry at 307-5166. The program will conclude in June with a dance recital.

TUMBLING KIDS
Boys and girls will have fun in this class that combines tumbling and gymnastics. The class will also include stretching & strengthening exercises. Classes continue through the school year and conclude with an optional dance recital.

KIDS’ NIGHT OUT
Bring your sleeping bag & pillow and join your friends for a fun night out. Pizza and beverage will be served followed by the showing of a G-rated movie on the “big screen”. Volunteer chaperons are needed. Call 485-0626 to register by November 3. Pay when you sign in.

AFTER SCHOOL SKI & SNOWBOARD
This is a great deal for skiers and snowboarders of all abilities! You get 5 discounted lift tickets to Ski Sundown and bus transportation from Har-Bur & Mills H.S. at 2:50 p.m. Lessons & rental equipment are also available. Everyone returns to Consolidated School at 7:40 p.m. Additional information and fees will be available in early October.
Register by October 30 to avoid late fees.

SKI & SNOWBOARD PICK-A-DAY / PICK-A-NIGHT
Take advantage of the discounted group rate at Ski Sundown in New Hartford. Use the lifts for 3 hours, one day per week, Monday-Friday, 5 times during the 2011 season. Choose any week day & time that works best for you. (Not valid holidays & weekends.) Ski/ride a different day each week if you like. Time starts with your first ride on the lift, morning, afternoon, or night. This program does not include instruction, supervision or transportation. Registrations accepted by mail, in person, & at Registration Night at Town Hall on 10/26. Register by October 30 to avoid late fees.

TURKEY “SHOOT”
This fun family event pairs adults (21 yr. & older) with youth to comprise teams. Compete for frozen turkeys, turkey microwave meals, & turkey pot pies by shooting “fowl” shots on the basketball court. Competitors will be divided into groups based on student’s grade. Call 485-0626 to register your team by November 17.

OLYMPIC FEVER ON ICE
This program welcomes all levels and ages to have fun and learn from Olympians! You will be taught the fundamentals of skating by 2006 Olympians, Melissa Gregory & Denis Petukhov. Participants (divided by age & ability) will be able to choose from instruction in either Figure Skating or Hockey Skating Skills. Rental skates are available for $3, but feel free to bring your own skates & gloves. Classes will be held at the International Skating Center, 1375 Hopmeadow St., Simsbury and include 30 minutes of instruction & a 15 minute free skate. No class on 11/27.
