RECYCLING SCHEDULE 2010
COLLECTION CANCELLATIONS (NON HAULER), DUE TO WEATHER, WILL BE BROADCAST ON WZBG (FM97.3). OR CALL 860-485-9647 FOR A RECORDED MESSAGE
SINGLE STREAM RECYCLING – IS A RECYCLING SYSTEM WHERE ALL PAPER (NEWSPAPER, CARDBOARD, MIXED PAPER, CATALOGS, MAGAZINES, JUNK MAIL) AND CONTAINERS (GLASS, METAL, PLASTIC) ARE PLACED, UNSORTED, INTO ONE LARGE COVERED “TOTER”. THIS SYSTEM IS SIMPLE AND ENCOURAGES MORE RECYCLING.AN INCREASE IN RECYCLING TAKES THE WEIGHT OUT OF GARBAGE. LOWER GARBAGE TONNAGE RESULTS IN LESS MONEY PAID TO CRRA. THIS SAVES YOUR TAX DOLLAR. AN INCREASE IN RECYCLING BENEFITS THE ENVIRONMENT BY CUTTING BACK ON NATURAL RESOURCES NEEDED TO PRODUCE THE PRODUCT. PLEASE RECYCLE SINGLE STREAM! YOUR HAULER SHOULD HAVE SET YOU UP WITH AN APPROPRIATE COVERED “TOTER” (OR GUIDED YOU TO SET UP AN APPROPRIATE SUBSTITUTE COVERED CONTAINER.). IF YOU DON’T HAVE ONE YET, PLEASE CALL YOUR HAULER OR ME. (YOUR HAULER’S PERMITS WILL NOT BE RE-NEWED IF HE IS NOT IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE NEW RECYCLING ORDINANCE ) PLEASE DO NOT MIX RECYCLABLES WITH YOUR GARBAGE. YOU STILL NEED 2 SEPARATE CONTAINERS – ONE FOR GARBAGE AND ONE (COVERED) FOR RECYCLING.
