The Town of Harwinton is currently accepting applications for the Energy Assistance Program which begins November 2, 2009. Applicants must provide proof of income and assets for all household members who reside with them, for the four weeks prior to application date. TRANSPORTATION

RURAL TRANSIT provides door-to-door “Dial-a-Ride” service to Harwinton. A 24 hour advance reservation is required. The service is available in Harwinton on Wednesdays. Rides are available to Torrington Senior Center, shopping, medical appointments and banking. For more information call Northwestern Connecticut Transit District (NWCTD) at (860) 489-2535. Fare is $2.00 one way. Elderly, disabled persons and students ride for half fare.
